3 Free Tools for Looking Up Website Information.

Do you need to figure out who owns a website and how to contact them? Do you need to look up DNS or hosting provider information? Do you want to see IP address history?

If the answer to any of those questions is yes, then below are three websites that can answer some of these questions:

  • Who.is – Completely free, WhoIS boasts a lookup service allowing you to view the contact address, phone number, and e-mail of the website owner.
  • Whoishostingthis.com – Another lookup service that ingests any URL of your choosing and shows you the name of the hosting company. This could be useful if you want to switch hosts, and admire another website’s service.
  • MyIP.ms – A service offering an in-depth report detailing the host of a website, the host’s physical location, IP address changes, and the number of daily visitors.

Armed with these tools, the mysteries of the Internet will be revealed to you. Go forth, my children.
