The new computer process is a common pain point in organizations across the world. It always seems like something is forgotten when setting up the new PC, and settings are overlooked. Rather than hit the ground running, users with new computers often seem to spend an hour or more on putting their own preferences back into place.
A good solution to at least part of this is Enterprise-State Roaming – a feature which carries over a number of Windows OS settings and app data (MS Edge favorites, etc) when an Azure AD users signs into another computer.
The feature is simple to activate:
1. Go to portal.azure.com and sign in as an admin.
2. Select Azure Active Directory from the left-side menu, then select Devices and Enterprise State Roaming.
3. Make the selection All for Users may sync settings and app data acrss devices.
4. Select Save, and you’re done!
Enterprise-State Roaming is now in place and will help Azure AD users carry over basic quality-of-life settings when moving from computer to computer.
